ABOUT OUR SITE How we started Recognizing Southeast Missouri's need for a diverse and independent source of sports news and opinion, the SemoSportsWeb.com domain name was formally registered June 1, 2006. Our launch date was Sept. 1, 2006, the first day of high school fall sports in Missouri. What we do Our purpose is to go beyond mainstream media coverage of sports and be the most reliable source for information from all sports and at all levels in Southeast Missouri, ranging from grassroots community events to college and pro sports news of local interest. Our pages feature exclusive content, including blogs and commentary; top headlines from across our region; action and team photos; hundreds of links to area athletes, teams and organizations; historical information on sports in our region; and areas of interaction, including an easy-to-use message board, polls and feedback forms. The area we cover Our region consists of 23 Southeast Missouri counties: Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Dent, Dunklin, Iron, Jefferson, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Oregon, Pemiscot, Perry, Reynolds, Ripley, St. Francis, Ste. Genevieve, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, Washington and Wayne. Our region stretches almost 200 miles from one end to the other, from Charleston to Thayer, from Herculaneum to Kennett, and from Salem to Cooter. Our mission is to deliver sports news that involves any sport from schools, teams or groups in our area. Behind the scenes Although there have been and will be many contributors who keep us on top of our game, Jamie Hall is the site's founder, coordinator and designer.
