MSHSAA split fails, but all other measures pass
Added 05.03.07
Football playoffs will change for Missouri high schools, but a proposal to create separate playoffs for public and private schools was defeated in votes announced late Thursday by the MSHSHA.

The proposal to split public and nonpublic schools was defeated by a margin of 321-92. Member schools approved 30 of the 31 ballot measures, including a plan to enlarge the football playoffs. Under the approved measure, which will begin in 2008, the winner and runner-up of each football district will advance to the playoffs in every classification.

Other changes approved include the establishment of an affiliate registered school category of membership, which will allow schools that don't meet the requirement to become a full member to register as an affiliate. ARS teams will be allowed to compete against full MSHSAA members only during the regular season.
